Obesity has become a national concern primarily because of the increased potential for serious disease that accompanies it. Possible consequences of obesity include: heart disease, stroke, cancer, and adult-onset diabetes.

It is estimated that one-fourth of all heart and blood vessel problems are associated with obesity. In addition, obesity is associated with the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. - adult-onset diabetes. Certain types of cancer are related to obesity as well. With cancer second only to heart disease as the major cause of death in the United States, we can see how imperative it is to eliminate obesity. Beyond the increased risks of serious illness, obesity can affect virtually every part of the body.

Do you feel that your excess weight is effecting both your short-term and long-term health?
